When Strength Starts with Self-Belief: Melanie’s Journey

There’s something incredibly powerful about hearing a woman speak honestly about the moment she decided to put her health first.

Melanie joined The Feel Good Tribe six months ago, not just to get stronger physically, but to reclaim her confidence, improve her long-term health, and feel more like herself again. What she’s achieved in that time—both in and out of the gym—has been inspiring to witness.

With her permission, I’m sharing her story here, in her own words. I hope it resonates with anyone who's ever felt unsure where to begin, or who needs a reminder that it’s never too late to feel strong again.


I have been working with Leanne as my personal trainer for nearly 6 months, and this experience has really altered my self-confidence and, most importantly, my health and fitness.”

After a period of weight gain and injury, I had stopped exercising entirely—except for the odd walk. The more I read and listened to podcasts about women’s health in their 40s and 50s—and with a mother who suffered profoundly from dementia, a path I was determined to avoid—the more I knew I needed to do something. Specifically, I needed to start lifting weights and building muscle.

Leanne and her business, The Feel Good Tribe, was recommended to me by a friend, and I jumped at the opportunity to work with a woman in roughly the same age range who was running her own business.

We’ve been training once a week at the gym in my condo on the East Coast, and the results have been truly gratifying. Leanne listened to my history and made accommodations for existing injuries. I’d been having trouble with both knees for some time, and the exercises she put into place have helped build the muscles to the point where I am now pain free. Each time we meet, she gently pushes me to work hard and lift heavier.

Leanne has great communication skills and is very easy to work with. I enjoy our chats—they help me keep going without overthinking. Time goes much quicker when I’m working out with Leanne than when I’m training on my own.

I would recommend Leanne as a personal trainer to anyone wanting to improve their health, fitness, and sense of self.
